Who would have thought that by traveling to the middle of the US we would have to worry about hurricanes and tropical storms but...here we are having torrential rains all day compliments of TS Hermine. Lots of rain and heavier rain right now with thunder and lightening.

We had a great day despite the rain. Went to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. It was outstanding. We got to see the Prix du West - a juried art show of current painting and sculpture from western artists that was excellent & inspiring (ask Cindi about the guard and his suggestions regarding photography) - as well as the regular exhibits that were full of Indians artifacts and early settler history -(Rick and Don were in early military history/ guns/heaven). We had a fine cowboy lunch - barbecued chicken, brisket, and pulled pork with all the trimmings - and saw amazing paintings called Windows to the West that were huge in scale. Check out Cindi's great pics.

Cindi & I went back to the Country Boy (really) grocery store to put the finishing touches on a BLT dinner with the Drummers. After several rounds of bacon in the smallish oven and a toaster that only worked if someone (mostly Don) held the lever down, we all had a great dinner and conversation. It's still raining and there's been some thunder and lightening but the weather is supposed to move on by morning. Stay tuned.
